Record participation at 9th Airport Night Run - 4,065 runners race across BER

A new record was set at this year’s Airport Night Run: 4,065 runners took part in the annual night-time race across the illuminated BER grounds. 1,147 runners competed in the half-marathon (21,0975 kilometres), 2,875 runners opted for the 10-kilometre course, of which 43 did the 10-kilometre Power Walking race. The course took the runners over the illuminated south runway, past the German Air Traffic Control tower, the terminal and the south pier of BER. The starting shot for the ninth race at BER was fired at 7 pm, and the race was held for the third year running as a Night Run.

Airport Night Run 2015 - Run along the illuminated BER

On Saturday, 18 April 2015, the ninth Airport Night Run will take place at Berlin Brandenburg Airport. Once again, the Airport Night Run will lead runners over the south runway of BER, across the apron with a view of the terminal, the south pier and the tower. Participants can choose between a half-marathon and a 10-kilometre course (approx. 6.2 miles). Last-minute registrations are still possible.

Karsten Mühlenfeld, Chief Executive Officer of Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH: ‘We are delighted that almost 3,500 participants have so far registered for the run across the illuminated south runway. All those interested still have until 15 April 2015 to register online. Last-minute participants can also register on site, provided that places are still available. We wish all runners the best of success.’

3856 runners at the night race at the BER airport

3856 runners ran in the evening on the southern landing and runway of the capital's future Airport Berlin-Brandenburg (BER). This was the eighth edition of the Airport Night Run, organized by BERLIN RUNS, an increase of almost 200 runners over the previous year. The path led past the terminal and to the passenger boarding bridges as well as the apron of the airport.
